There’s some thing known as “2nd Movie Syndrome” prevailing in Telugu Film Industry from many years. It’s nothing but: a DIRECTOR having a great debut (1st film) and his second film being a disaster/flop. There were many promising directors in the past who started well and weren’t able to show the same energy levels later on….

Director Jagarlamudi Krishh on sets!

KRISHH (Jagarlamudi Krishna) also had a dream debut as a director with GAMYAM and won many accolades, awards and rewards for his great work. Now, he is coming up with another multi-hero movie: VEDAM as his 2nd film and it’s getting released on June 3rd after few postponements. AUDIO has already spilled it’s magic on me and I’m eager to watch the film. VEDAM has Allu Arjun, Manoj, Anushka and Manoj Bajpai in lead roles. My favorite Music Director: MM KEERAVANI has given some soothing and scintillating tunes for this film. Keeping my fingers crossed for KRISHH’s success!

FYI: Other Directors who faced 2nd Movie Syndrome:

  • Sukumar (AARYA) –> Jagadam
  • Karunakaran (THOLI PREMA) –> Yuvakudu
  • AS Ravi Kumar Choudary (YAGNAM) –> Veerabadhra
  • Soorya Kiran (SATHYAM) –> Dhana 51
  • Uday Shankar (KALISUNDAM RAA) –> Prematho Raa!
  • Arun Prasad (THAMMUDU) –> Bhalevaadivi Baasu
  • Sri Vaas (LAKSHYAM) –> Raama Raama Krishna Krishna

And, there are few other directors who started with a super flop and went on to make it BIG in the industry. Examples include: Poori Jagannadh (BAACHI), Sreenu Vytla (NEE KOSAM), etc!

my gut feeling says….. vedam is gonna be impacted by 2nd movie syndrome (thats a nice name to the syndrome btw ;) ).

so its better to set expectations super low and be bowled over with whatever lil u get…. well thats for regular audience not for a critic ofcourse.

infact last night while watching Prasthanam we were discussing the same, if Deva Katta is gona make one more movie i’m sure he is gonna face what u describe here as 2nd movie syndrome….

btw…thanks for the clippings of Vedam songs…. the songs are really refreshing….

I think its hard for us to guess which director will face this syndrome or what ever, because.. these new directors put lot of effort in their first movie..as that is the one which will decide his career. I stayed with these people (not deva katta .. but few other who were trying for chance.) for few months and you can not imagine the effort they put in the first script.

I was with a team in film nagar and that guy had 350 pages screen play book. He wrote the screen play of every single scene along with the backgrounds that he wants to have. The story writer was a young telugu teacher from nedubrolu.. he left his job as he wanted to be a good story and dialogue writer. I never saw those people talking about second story and we know its obvious……so i think if these people put same effort in the second movie and if they have good team like the first one.. and take enough time in coming up with a story, then i think they should not face this syndrome..

but there are so many other factors that will have an effect apart from their hard work… i hope krishna will do good..
