CELEBS list include (in the same order of photographs): Priyamani, Raviteja, Katrina Kaif, Siddarth, Reema Sen, Sruthi Hassan, Priya Anand & Anushka Sharma…!
Looks like Telugu Superstar: Mahesh Babu is more interested to act in Ad Films/Promos rather than acting in a full length feature film. He seems busy with his Thumbs Up ads one after the other, but it has been ages since his movie got released. Whatever be the reason (personal problems, delay in schedules, etc), MAHESH has to pace up his work and make sure that his next movie (in the direction of Trivikram) will get released even before the audience (at least the normal viewers) forget him…!
The above posted pictures are of his shoot for the promos of new Thumbs Up ad and was shot for few days in Malaysia…!
On the other hand, it’s heard that Ram Charan Teja has been selected as the National brand ambassador (not just for AP and Telugu Media) for PEPSI along with Dhoni and he will be soon featuring in Pepsi promos that will be aired on National Media. It’ll be great if this turns out to be true!
BINDAAS is the latest Telugu Cinema from a debutant director: Veeru Potla (story writer of Varsham & Nuvvastanante Nenoddhantana films) and a new producer: Sunkara Ram. Manchu Manoj Kumar is the hero and Sheena makes her debut as heroine. Music director: Bobo Sashi also makes his debut in Telugu with this family entertainer.
STORY LINE: Story of Bindaas has the shades of other movies like: Kalisundam Raa & Ready, where the hero tries to unite two rival groups/families (of MahendraNaidu & SeshadriNaidu) with his good deeds. He obviously has a lady love and no support from the family initially and as the movie progresses, the hero will gain everyone’s affection! How he succeeds in reaching his goals forms rest of this routine plot.
PERFORMANCES: Manoj impresses us again with his ultra-cool performance. From comic timing to dialogue diction, from action sequences to dance movements: Manoj excells in most of the departments (except his not so great looks/style). He carried the film on his own very well with out any stumbling! Sheena looks cute but not a heroine material (at least for now). She should have waited for few more years to make an entry.
Comedy is the core element around which the film revolves. Brahmanandam, Master Bharat, Suneel, Raghubabu, etc are OK with their roles. MS Narayana steals the show with his small yet hillarious character. Jayaprakash is serious and Ahuti Prasad is just fine as JP’s rival.
TECHNICALS: Director Veeru Potla has taken a routine, simple and not-so-exciting story line to make his debut. But, he succeeded in compensating that with some good screenplay. His dialogues added fun to the film with some great comedy episodes. It looks like the director has taken a clue from Seenu Vytla in narrating a simple yet successful film. Other departments like: Music, Photography, etc are sloppy and doesn’t add anything extra to this flick. Production values are fine though!
ANALYSIS: Bindaas opens with some boring episodes and then tries to move on with fun filled sequences. Though there’s nothing new to talk about the idea/concept, BINDAAS has it’s own merits like: great one-liners, good performance from Manoj and a decent climax. Heroine, music & in-consistent photography will surely work against the film.
BINDAAS is an entertaining film with a beaten story line and I’ve enjoyed watching it (at least in parts) and you can easily TRY the film once! Will go with “close to 3 STARS” rating in the end!
After watching the promos of KEDI movie, I strongly feel that Nagarjuna is still the most good looking hero on the Telugu screen (even after his son: Naga Chaitanya has started acting as hero)…! Mahesh Babu doesn’t have that MACHO kind looks anyways (though many people might prefer him to Nag). And, Pawan Kalyan is one actor who comes closer to Nag’s style/looks. Apart from these 3 heroes, most of the top heroes have their own fan following irrespective of their looks (Vishnu tops my own list of Worst Looking Heroes)…!

Sekhar Kammula ready with LEADER film
Director SEKHAR KAMMULA is one different person in our film industry with all the guts in this world to make movies in his own style. He is also always dare enough to release his movies along with some other BIG budgeted movie. He has done this twice (and succeeded) in the past and now, he is trying to repeat the magic for the 3rd time with his LEADER movie! Just look at the following release timings of his films…!
- ANAND (Raja & Kamalini) : released with SHANKARDADA MBBS (Chiranjeevi & Sonali)
- HAPPY DAYS (Varun, Nikhil & Tamanna): released with CHIRUTA (Ramcharan Teja)
- LEADER (Rana & Priya): releasing with KEDI (Nagarjuna & Mamata)
Curious to see if LEADER succeeds as the music is really nice and Raana looks great! The trailers are also interesting! Priya Anand is casted opposite Raana. LEADER is releasing on Feb 11th (1 day before KEDI’s release)…!

INTRO: I’ve watched the original black & white Mayabazar some 2 decades back (198o’s) and the way the film has left a strong mark on my memory can’t be expressed. Be it the special effects, grandeur, star cast, songs, settings or poems – everything from start to end are so memorable. The news of restoring the classic itself was so refreshing. But I was super skeptical about the outcome!
ANALYSIS: As the name of the film suggests – it’s really a magic all the way (in color). The colorization was an eye-feast and the sound effects were so good and neat. Though there was a dramatic improvisation in the instruments used and the orchestra, the songs came out so well. You’ve to be in the theater to believe the positive energy the film creates with its new look.
Resizing the film to fit our cinema scope screens is not a small feat and the restoration team (at Goldstone technologies) have to compromise a lot on the screen space. Still, the feel and beauty was never lost and Bartley’s cinematography is at it’s best.
HIGHLIGHTS: Savithri’s terrific performance as Sashirekha is simply amazing. The way she enacts SVR’s body language is a feast to watch. SVR as Ghatotkacha will surely impress us. His dialogues, comedy timing and screen presence were commendable. ANR has given a controlled performance as Abhimanyu. Relangi as Laxmana Kumara is hillarious. Allu Ramalingayya, Vanga & Balakrishna’s comedy episodes were really sarcastic and funny. Last but not least: NTR as lord Krishna will surely imprint the God’s charm on us. The way he smiles and delivers expressions with eyes is superb and soothing. I miss him a lot! Few episodes were more than a treat to watch after colorization:
- Journey episode of Abhimanyu with his mother Subadhra
- Intro scene of Ghatotkacha
- Laahiri laahiro lo song in a boat on a full-moon night!
- ‘Jaya Satya Sankalpa’ poem in the climax
PITFALLS: Sound restoration is not consistent (might be problem with original sound track or the theater). And, due to the damaged negative, Goldstone was not able to include the full versions of few songs like: “Bhali Bhali devaa..”, “Dhayacheyandi….”, “Vinnaava yasodhamma..”, etc. And, they should have avoided including some DTS sounds for transition effects (from one scene to another scene).
NOTE: The characters of Hindu mythology comes into life with greatest actors playing them. Watching Mayabazar in Color is a more satisfying experience than watching any other recent movie on the day of it’s release! Technology used at it’s best and more films should be on their way (depends on us – TELUGU AUDIENCE – to accept it with both the hands)
*** HIGHLY RECOMMENDED & MUST WATCH ***
Kudos to the whole re-storation, colorization and sound-improvisation team at Goldstone Technologies for this brave and wonderful attempt. And lastly, BIG THANKS to Super Good Films’ team for bringing the COLOR MAYABAZAR into theaters!

PREVIEW: Mid-Night-Market Under Construction
Hyderabad is well known for it’s mixed culture and the late-night life has been one of the concerns for party going animals in the city from many years. More than anyone else, it has been a long wish for every Hyderabad City Lover to roam around the city in the nights and have fun with friends/family. The beauty of this heritage rich city has to be seen with the illuminated lights around…!
The NIGHT MARKETS was actually a proven concept with Cities like Goa (Ingo’s Saturday Night Bazaar), Singapore (Bugis Street Night Bazaar) and Bangkok (SuanLum Night Bazaar) having them from many years. As most of the cities/citizens are restless throughout the day, the desire to go out in nights can be easily understood.
Coming to the point, AP Govt has decided to start it’s own version of Night Bazaar (until 3:00 AM) by this summer and is seriously planning it to name after our late CM: YSR. So, the name under consideration for this project is: Ysr’s SHILPA SANDHYA VEDIKA. The location is obviously besides the popular crafts village: SHILPA RAMAM (in Hitec City).
But, but….. the way they are coming up with the shops/stalls is pretty disappointing. Because, the ever famous huts/mud-made-stalls in Shilpa Ramam will be replaced with the brick/cement made shops and it will be more like a shopping complex spread over few acres of land with fountains, wall-paintings, graffiti all over it. I got to click the UNDER CONSTRUCTION bazaar and you can see it in this post!
Note: Improving the standards of Night Life has always been a dream of Chandrababu Naidu, while YSR was always against the night-life concept. But, this impotent Govt has decided to name the bazaar after YSR’s name and it has been the trend of Congress Govt to steal the credit (I always get pissed off to see the statues of Rajiv/Indira Gandhi at the main junctions of Hitec City/Silparamam, NTR Gardens/iMax, Kukatpally/Malaysia Township, etc – because – all these places were initiated and developed during the tenure of Naidu and there has never been any progress during Congress Govt except the new statues..).
