BINDAAS movie review: 2.75 / 5*****

   Posted by: admin    in Movies

BINDAAS is the latest Telugu Cinema from a debutant director: Veeru Potla (story writer of Varsham & Nuvvastanante Nenoddhantana films) and a new producer: Sunkara Ram. Manchu Manoj Kumar is the hero and Sheena makes her debut as heroine. Music director: Bobo Sashi also makes his debut in Telugu with this family entertainer.

STORY LINE: Story of Bindaas has the shades of other movies like: Kalisundam Raa & Ready, where the hero tries to unite two rival groups/families (of MahendraNaidu & SeshadriNaidu) with his good deeds. He obviously has a lady love and no support from the family initially and as the movie progresses, the hero will gain everyone’s affection! How he succeeds in reaching his goals forms rest of this routine plot.

PERFORMANCES: Manoj impresses us again with his ultra-cool performance. From comic timing to dialogue diction, from action sequences to dance movements: Manoj excells in most of the departments (except his not so great looks/style). He carried the film on his own very well with out any stumbling! Sheena looks cute but not a heroine material (at least for now). She should have waited for few more years to make an entry.

Comedy is the core element around which the film revolves. Brahmanandam, Master Bharat, Suneel, Raghubabu, etc are OK with their roles. MS Narayana steals the show with his small yet hillarious character. Jayaprakash is serious and Ahuti Prasad is just fine as JP’s rival.

TECHNICALS: Director Veeru Potla has taken a routine, simple and not-so-exciting story line to make his debut. But, he succeeded in compensating that with some good screenplay. His dialogues added fun to the film with some great comedy episodes. It looks like the director has taken a clue from Seenu Vytla in narrating a simple yet successful film. Other departments like: Music, Photography, etc are sloppy and doesn’t add anything extra to this flick. Production values are fine though!

ANALYSIS: Bindaas opens with some boring episodes and then tries to move on with fun filled sequences. Though there’s nothing new to talk about the idea/concept, BINDAAS has it’s own merits like: great one-liners, good performance from Manoj and a decent climax. Heroine, music & in-consistent photography will surely work against the film.

BINDAAS is an entertaining film with a beaten story line and I’ve enjoyed watching it (at least in parts) and you can easily TRY the film once! Will go withclose to 3 STARSrating in the end!
